Contemplation

I had painted many standing women, and the torso of standing women. I wanted to challenge myself and paint a series of seated women. I did this without a photo or model as with all of my non-landscape paintings. For me, the difficulties were in the background. I didn't want any of them to look as though they were floating, and my style is not realism. This is the first one where I had her sitting on something rather than an element of Nature.
