Agave Seated Woman

I had painted many standing women, and the torso of standing women. I wanted to challenge myself and paint a series of seated women. I did this without a photo or model as with all of my non-landscape paintings. For me, the difficulties were in the background. I didn't want any of them to look as though they were floating, and my style is not realism. I began to find a different way of incorporating the earthly elements. I wanted the form of the woman to be solid within the chosen colors, and find different ways of connecting her to all that surrounds us. This is a collection I am still currently working on, and adding new work.
