A simple symbol, yet full of meaning.

I began painting the hearts during a time in my life when connecting to the emotion within me was too big, too raw, too overwhelming. I sat at my art table month after month, painting heart after heart. Broken, full, fiery, whole. I was inspired by the Mexican Catholic iconographic Sacred Heart. The simplicity helped me to find the way into mine.
